In 2021, I began embroidering one 4-inch hoop a month. This hoop is from February. After January’s first attempt, I realized I needed to focus more on the contrast between colours rather than the colours themselves and chose an image that easily lent itself to greyscale in order to simplify. I tried to create depth using longer stitches, but discovered that they didn’t hold up well, and also realized I needed to layer stitches background to foreground in the correct order to keep clean edges.
