In 2021, I began embroidering one 4-inch hoop a month. This hoop is from October. After spending the previous months trying to replicate either photos or other painters’ work, I decided it was time to base an embroidery off of one of my own doodles. I wanted to make something a bit whimsical and cartoonish, and came up with this design after seeing the quirky row houses in St. John’s. The most difficult part of this embroidery was actually the scale. A bigger hoop would have allowed for a bit more precision and detail in the windows, but I ended up without enough space to make recognizable shapes.
